Junior dos Santos says Alistair Overeem needs another fight before getting a UFC title shot

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White thinks embattled Dutch striker Alistair Overeem shouldn't lose his spot as top heavyweight contender -- despite flunking a pre-fight drug test and getting denied a license to fight until December.

Reigning division champion Junior dos Santos disagrees.

"Cigano," who will gladly fight "Demolition Man" if he can prove to the world he is a clean fighter, wants to see "The Reem" have at least one more bout before getting his chance to compete for the crown -- assuming he will submit to a blood test prior to fighting.

Those comments (via ESPN.com) after the jump.

Star-divide

"I would like him to do a test -- a blood test. I think we both need to do that. I want a clean fight and he needs to prove he is not under any kind of substances. When you have a fight with two 'clean' fighters, you will know after the fight who is the real champion. A guy who uses doping is a fake fighter. I think he doesn?t deserve a title shot right now. ... Overeem needs to have another fight before having a title shot."

Of course, none of this matters if Dos Santos can't get past Cain Velasquez (again) at the UFC 152 pay-per-view (PPV) event this September; however, if the Brazilian should lose, he could still fight Overeem and it wouldn't be for the title.

Or you could just give him to Ben Rothwell.

For now, we can only speculate as to how the 265-pound division will unfold over the next few months. Anyone want to make a Nostradumbass-ish prediction and map out the heavyweight landscape for 2013?

Let's have it.
